Winter Solstice

19 dicembre 2016, lunedi

Winter solstice, another name Dongzhi, is the solar terms of traditional East Asian calendars divide a year into 24 solar terms. In the Gregorian calendar, it usually begins around 21 or 22 december. In China, Dongzhi was originally celebrated as an end-of-harvest festival which like as thanksgiving day. Today, it is observed with a family reunion over the long night, when pink and white tangyuan are eaten in sweet broth to symbolise family unity and prosperity.

Tonight, my family are reunion two days early because part of my family members will travel in the christmas holiday. Actually I'm so disappointed in our reunion dinner, we haven't eat tangyuan, but we choose to eat longevity peaches which should be eat in birthday that because our lovely niece like to eat.
